Once a year we race a stock series where every driver must have a stock motor in to race. We do this so that the results are based on driver ability rather than the cars performance.
There will be 6 qualifying rounds this year and drivers must compete in at least 4 rounds to be able to race in the finals which will be held on 29th March 2009.
SCORING - The overall winner after the first 4 races of the night will receive 100 points, the 2nd place 99 points etc. Your best 4 results will then be taken to give you an overall score. This will determine where you start on Finals night.
On Finals night the position that you finish each of your races in will determine your overall result. If you win your race then you will get 1 point, 2nd place will get 2 points etc. There will be 5 races on finals night and your 3 best results will be added together to give you an overall score. The person with the lowest score will win their race. If there is a draw then your results from the other 2 races will be taken into consideration.
The scoring system might sound complicated but its not in practice, I'm just not too good at explaining it!! :-)
There will be a couple of changes to the format of the qualifying rounds this year:
- Instead of a staggered start we will be trying out a grid start on every race (similar to how finals are usually raced), the advantage of this is that your position on the track will be your actually position in the race.
- The starting order of the grid will be determined by Glen's stats for the first race and then it will be determined by your finishing position of the previous race.
- The 5th race of the night (final) will be 5 minutes long instead of the usual 4 minutes.
The motor in your car must be 27T stock motor or 13.5T brushless or lower, and must not be modified from the original manufacturers specification, this excludes springs and brushes. You can also use stock motors that are not on the BRCA stock motor list. The committee will be doing spot checks on motors during the night and anyone not following the above rules may be disqualified from the nights racing. The committee's decision will be final.
If you haven't got a stock motor then you can still come and race in a separate race but your results will not be included in the stock series results table.
